letting out some angst I've had towards drama in my hometown in the past year (and boy, was there drama). also deals with certain beaches I really feel at home at. I've always had a strong connection to the shore.
the second verse recalls a dream I had when I was in 6th grade; it involved diving into pools and resurfacing in different pools that reminded me of certain places, like the summer day camp I used to go to (where I was bullied mercilessly). eventually, I was breathing underwater at the bottom of the ocean, walking around and seeing intricate little trinkets that still resonate with me.
I've always been known as something of a lone wolf. don't get me wrong; I love people. but when asked about me, the usual answer is "he does his own thing". which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
lyrics
Just a loner, as far as I know
From shore to shore, head to toe
From Point Pleasant to Santa Cruz
Was at the North Shore, didn't hear the news
Ah, I didn't wanna be found
Away from old haunts, and old ways abound
Ah, I'm sorry, it's true
Life's surely better without you
I'm underwater, 50 leagues below the waves
And somehow, I've made it through unscathed
Trinkets and mementos entangled in kelp
If I wanted you, I would've asked for help
If I wanted you, I would've asked for help
Ah, I didn't wanna be found
Away from old ways, and old haunts abound
Ah, I'm sorry, it's true
Life's surely better without you
