letting out some of my emotions about how I initially felt moving to Chicago from the suburbs of New Jersey, and how it can be uncomfortable to live with a social disorder in an urban setting.
originally, the idea was (as pulpogoma) to record a little sample of chatter and bus noises and see if I could make a song out of it in Garageband. I liked it so much that I rerecorded it in Logic, and the difference is noticeable.
lyrics
Midwestern lanes, Midwestern streets
I guess you're kinda home for me
They leer, I glare, I feel impaired
And cigarettes, they choke the air
Eye contact, you feel attacked
It takes one stare to feel assailed
When it breaks, make no mistake
Connecting's hard when I feel fake
Ooh, call me a Martian
Ah, cause I'm not human at all
Midwestern lanes, Midwestern streets
Behemoths, they loom over me, your
Glass and steel and concrete steps
Metropolis let me reflect
Colossal things, reaching so high, and
At sunset, absorb the sky
Towering above the lake,
My heart is sunk beneath the waves
Ooh, Is it even a question
Oh, if I'm a human at all?
